Description:
The Diana Woo Memorial Lectureship was established in memory of Dr. Diana Woo, a beloved member of the faculty of the Department of Pediatrics, who passed away in August, 1995. Dr. Woo was an outstanding clinician who was dedicated to helping families and children she cared for. For many who had the privilege of knowing Diana Woo, she will always be remembered for her quick wit, cheerful presence, and compassion. She was a wonderful role model for many students and colleagues. A native of Milwaukee, Diana Woo received her B.S. in 1963 from Mount Mary College and her M.D. in 1968 from the University Of Chicago Pritzker School Of Medicine. She completed her residency in pediatrics at St. Louis Children’s Hospital in 1970. She also served as senior house officer and honorary senior registrar at the Institute of Child Health at Hammersmith Hospital and Queen Charlotte’s Hospital in London, England. She joined the University of Chicago faculty in 1971. This annual lectureship highlights the latest innovations in the field of Neonatology especially in ethics, quality of care and early childhood development – the areas closest to Diana’s heart.
