Dr. Audrey Fotouhi earned her medical degree from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed a transitional year at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan, and went on to complete her dermatology residency at Wayne State University, where she served as Chief Resident and was recognized for her excellence in patient care, education, and clinical leadership.
Dr. Fotouhi’s clinical interests span women’s health dermatology—including vulvar dermatoses, dermatoses of pregnancy and lactation, gender-diverse care, acne, and hirsutism—as well as complex medical dermatology, dermatologic education, and cosmetic dermatology. At the University of Chicago, she established a Gynecology-Dermatology Subspecialty Clinic to expand access for patients with vulvar skin conditions.
She is actively engaged in multidisciplinary education and research with the University of Chicago’s Trans CARE program and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Her academic focus includes inflammatory and infectious vulvar dermatoses and improving dermatologic care for gender-diverse patients. Her work includes peer-reviewed publications and invited lectures in medical and vulvar dermatology.
Dr. Fotouhi is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and an active member of the Association of Professors of Dermatology, the International Society for the Study of Vulvovaginal Disease, and the Women’s Dermatologic Society. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Vulvar Dermatoses Research Consortium as Membership Chair.
