Dr. Elaine Worcester is a nephrologist at the University of Chicago where she is a Professor of Medicine, and is active in teaching, research and patient care. Her research focuses on the processes that contribute to kidney stone formation to improve stone prevention and prevent complications related to abnormal mineral metabolism. She has led NIH funded studies of the medical and surgical aspects of stone formation, has authored over 145 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and co-edited the leading textbook in the field. She is actively involved in mentoring trainees and guiding young investigators in the early stages of their careers by participation in programs funded by the NIH and by the American Society of Nephrology.
