Dr. Michael Macklin is a faculty member of the Section of Rheumatology at the University of Chicago, an expert in the care of patients with systemic sclerosis (scleroderma) and interstitial lung diseases (ILD). Dr. Michael Macklin is the director of the multidisciplinary Scleroderma Program at the University of Chicago, encompassing specialists in Pulmonary, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Plastic Surgery, and Dermatology, who provide comprehensive care to individuals carrying the diagnosis of systemic sclerosis (scleroderma).He has worked on projects devoted to improving the diagnosis and treatment of individuals of systemic sclerosis. His clinical research has focused on clinical trials for patients with systemic sclerosis, including cell therapy such as CAR-T cells.
Dr. Michael Macklin is also a member of the multidisciplinary interstitial lung disease (ILD) group at the University of Chicago and hosts a combined rheumatology-pulmonary clinic dedicated to patients with ILD due to autoimmune diseases. The ILD Program at the University of Chicago has been internationally recognized for its innovative and collaborative clinical research in ILD and also provides clinical trials for these diseases.
Dr. Michael Macklin also has an interest in IgG4 related disease and is a member of the multidisciplinary IgG4 Clinical Consortium at the University of Chicago, encompassing specialists from Gastroenterology, Pathology, Nephrology, Ophthalmology and Neurology.
Dr. Michael Macklin also is very interested in medical education and works with learners at all stages in their medical training.
