Dr. Neda Laiteerapong is Professor and Chief of the Section of General Internal Medicine in the Departments of Medicine & Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience. She is an academic general internist and board-certified clinical informaticist, who practices medicine in both the ambulatory and inpatient settings. She is a health services and outcomes researcher who employs a wide range of research methods, including epidemiology, qualitative analysis, mixed methods, clinical informatics, implementation science, pragmatic trials, and cost-effectiveness analysis to answer translational questions about behavioral health integration, individualized type 2 diabetes care, and primary care practice. Her clinical training was in internal medicine at University of Chicago with a chief residency year at MacNeal Hospital. She completed an AHRQ post-doctoral T32 and a Master’s of Science for Clinical Professionals at University of Chicago. Through her research, she obtained clinical informatics training and was board-certified in Clinical Informatics. She has had continuous NIH/AHRQ funding for the last 15 years and over 130 publications. She is the Founding Director of the Center for Research in Behavioral Health and Implementation Science, Associate Director of Clinical Outcomes for the Center for Chronic Disease Research and Policy, Primary Care Research Fellowship Director, and Associate Program Director for the Clinical Informatics Fellowship at the University of Chicago. Integral to her career and research program is mentorship of junior investigators across the spectrum of training.
