Stephen Estime is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology & Critical Care at the University of Chicago. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Chicago followed by a critical care fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. He currently practices as an Anesthesiologist in the operating room and as a Critical Care Physician in the Trauma-Surgical Intensive Care Unit. His interests and academic work focus on quality improvement, patient safety particularly as it relates to emergency airway management in the critically ill, and health equity with a focus on reducing health care disparities. He serves as a Director for Diversity & Inclusion in the Graduate Medical Education office as well as the lead for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Department of Anesthesia.
