Research Development Team (RDT)

The University of Chicago is eager to facilitate – and the NIH, NSF, and other governmental and non-governmental agencies are increasingly eager to fund – collaborative scientific projects.

The RDT was created in 2023 to proactively catalyze the development and/or facilitate the submission of complex, multidisciplinary research proposals that generally seek a total of >$6M from the NSF, NIH (P and U series, RM1, RC2, etc.), and other such agencies or Foundations.

We are eager and able to help with the conceptualization and design of large-scale proposals; this important, early work often (1) begins at least 3-6 months before any submission deadline and, in most cases, (2) is crucial to crafting a cohesive and compelling grant application. We can also help develop and/or edit scientific narratives, graphics, and administrative documents in the 8-12 weeks before a submission is due. Whether it's early or late in the process, we find it's important that both the PI and the RDT comfortably, regularly switch between focusing on 'the big picture' and 'urgent action items and/or fine details'.
