BSD Runs the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge

Thirty BSD employees participated in this year's premier spring running event.

In one of the premier events of the spring running season, teams from the BSD, Medical Center, and UChicago became part of a record setting JPMorgan Corporate Challenge. More than 6,900 participants from 278 companies filled Grant Park on the evening of June 9th to run the 3.5-mile lakefront course.  This year marked the 11th year UChicago has sent teams to this event. Thirty BSD employees were part of a larger group of 137 runners from across our campus community who were invited to participate with coworkers, family, and friends.

The Corporate Challenge, which began in 1977, is now the world’s largest corporate running event, with competitions in 15 cities, including London, Frankfurt, Singapore, Boston, and San Francisco.  Historically, the Corporate Challenge has served as a benefit and awareness builder for local charities. Breakthrough, a not-for-profit organization that partners with over 8,000 local residents to provide housing, education, violence prevention, food access, healthcare, and economic opportunity, was the beneficiary of this year’s JP Morgan Chase donation.
