Michael Tatelbame named Assistant Dean and Executive Director for Human Resources

Tatelbame will provide leadership in all aspects of human resources for the BSD, from strategic planning, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness to performance management, leadership coaching, and talent acquisition.

Michael Tatelbame has been hired as the new Assistant Dean and Executive Director for Human Resources for the BSD. In this role, he will provide leadership in all aspects of human resources for the BSD, from strategic planning, employee relations, and organizational effectiveness to performance management, leadership coaching, and talent acquisition.

Tatelbame will set the strategic vision for the HR office and develop innovative ways to support faculty, staff, and departments while representing the BSD in key university initiatives such as pay transparency efforts and Workday optimization projects. He will also lead ongoing efforts to streamline and optimize HR functions across the division and collaborate with University and UCM HR to drive implementation of our Elevate 2035 strategic plan and shared Mission, Vision, and Values.

Tatelbame most recently served as the VP of Talent Management with Baptist Health in northeast Florida, where he was responsible for recruitment, onboarding, and employee, leadership and organizational development for more than 16,000 team members. He also led the organization's culture, engagement, and belonging and inclusion initiatives for both employees and providers.

Prior to Baptist, he consulted with Press Ganey, helping clients across the country drive engagement and positively impact the patient and family experience.  He has served as VP of Human Resources for Kindred Healthcare, where his team provided HR services to nearly 100,000 employees across the country. From 2005-2008, he was part of the UChicago Medicine HR leadership team and led several areas, including learning and development and employee, provider, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
