The BSD migrates to Office 365 email

Here’s what to expect from the first major email upgrade at the BSD in over 10 years.

On October 31st, UCM IT will be migrating both UCM and BSD email accounts to the Office 365 cloud.  This will be the first major email upgrade at the BSD in over 10 years and may create some disruption for faculty and staff.  There are over 30,000 devices that will need to be reconfigured, including laptops, web browsers and both University issued and personal devices, (e.g. cell phones, iPads, etc). Further communications will be issued before October 31st, but all BSD employees will need to take action based on the type of device you are currently using to access your University email accounts.

  • For BSD issued Windows devices, pre-loaded software will assist with migration.  You will only need to enter in your new username and password on login. Support guides will be emailed to all users.
  • For Apple and Android devices, you will need to perform manual set-up and configuration to access your new BSD mailbox.  Support guides will be published at uchicagomedicine.org.

IT staff know what devices you currently use to access email and will send you the appropriate directions to manually configure them before October 31st.  If you have challenges setting up your device after the cutover date, you will still be able to access your email via a web browser until an IT professional is able to assist you. That procedure will also be sent prior to the migration.
