Executive Assistant to the Deans for Research

As vice deans for research, T. Conrad Gilliam, PhD, and Scott Oakes, MD, advise and advocate for our research mission across the Biological Sciences Division (BSD) and the Pritzker School of Medicine. Together, they play a central role in developing the division’s strategic plans for basic and clinical research and work with the Dean and other faculty leaders to integrate our research programs with the University. They also oversee new program building, faculty recruitment, research resources such as space, core facilities, and limited funding opportunities, meeting frequently with faculty to discuss and advocate for new research and emerging trends of interest to the division.

T. Conrad Gilliam, PhD, vice dean for basic science research, also assists Dean Anderson with oversight of research safety, graduate and postdoctoral affairs, the Office of Shared Research Facilities, and the Animal Resource Center.

Scott Oakes, MD, vice dean for clinical science research, in addition works closely with the clinical research leaders, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago Medical Center to create synergy across BSD research entities.
