Office of Academic Affairs
The Office of Academic Affairs and the Dean for Academic Affairs jointly provide human resource services to academic units and administrative staff on a wide range of topics related to academic personnel management within the BSD. We also offer resources for faculty and other academic appointees as they develop their academic programs here, and assessment of appointive actions and compliance with relevant policies on behalf of the Dean.
Faculty Information by Track & Rank
Currently, faculty within the Biological Sciences Division are currently appointed on one of two faculty tracks. The BSD track (biological sciences division) is our tenure track, for faculty appointees whose work is primarily focused on scholarship and education. The SOM track (school of medicine) is for faculty whose work generally includes contributions to clinical care, education, and scholarship. Learn more about the appointment, reappointment, promotion and tenure requirements by rank below.
The Office of Academic Affairs is also responsible for managing the appointment, reappointment and promotion process for all other academic appointees and postdoctoral scholars and fellows. Below are links to resources for each appointment type.
OAA News Brief
The OAA News Brief is a short-form, quarterly newsletter with a comprehensive round-up of all the latest updates from our office and the Office of the Provost relevant to academic appointive actions in the BSD. Links to each edition are listed below for reference.
